The UNI 80 at a glance
For pipes up to 76 mm that need to be tightly bent without losing their round shape, the CBC UNI 80 uses a mandrel inside the pipe. It can achieve radii down to twice the outside diameter, even on thin and delicate pipes. It is used in plumbing, shipbuilding, oil hydraulics, industry, and decorative metalwork.
The machine is powered by a 3 kW, two-speed, self-braking, three-phase motor with an inverter (380 V/50 Hz). A computerized hydraulic system opens and closes the clamping and bending tools. The mandrel withdraws under program control to create a precise bend. At the end of the stroke, the machine returns automatically. The digital control system can store up to 50 programs with up to nine angles, and the control panel operates at 24 volts. The machine, which is made of spheroidal cast iron, weighs 600 kilograms.
The standard version includes a 3-meter mandrel kit with a hydraulic mandrel extraction system, a plane regulator, stops, and a 20-millimeter mandrel rod. Kits are also available in lengths of 2, 4, 5, and 6 meters. The machine includes two interchangeable output shafts, and the bending plane is set with a mechanical positioning spindle.

Mandrels for the UNI 80
CBC manufactures mandrels for each pipe size. The appropriate type depends on the bending radius and wall thickness.
| Mandrel | Use |
|---|---|
| Fixed (steel) | radius ≥ 2.5 × D, wall over 2 mm; groove for the weld seam |
| Articulated (bronze/aluminium) | radius < 2.5 × D, wall under 2 mm |
| Ball mandrel (bronze/aluminium) | radius < 2.5 × D, wall under 2 mm; very thin pipes, radius 2 × D |
Tooling for the UNI 80
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Steel former | one per diameter and radius |
| Clamping jaw | holds the pipe, one per size |
| Pair of rollers | walls over 2.5 mm without special finish requirements |
| Fixed sliding counterformer | thin pipes, prevents marks on the outside |
| Mobile sliding counterformer | very thin pipes; support with automatic return |
| Anti-wrinkle die | prevents wrinkles on the inside of the bend |

Mandrel kit lengths of the UNI 80
The mandrel kit determines the usable length of the pipe: It is 1.55 meters with the 2-meter kit and up to 5.55 meters with the 6-meter kit.
| Version | Article no. | Usable length |
|---|---|---|
| Mandrel kit 2 m | 9210402 | 1.55 m |
| Mandrel kit 3 m | 9210403 | 2.55 m |
| Mandrel kit 4 m | 9210404 | 3.55 m |
| Mandrel kit 5 m | 9210405 | 4.55 m |
| Mandrel kit 6 m | 9210406 | 5.55 m |
Bending capacity of the UNI 80 with mandrel
The UNI 80 can bend most metal pipes up to 76 mm, stainless steel AISI 304/316 up to 63.5 x 3 mm, and gas pipes up to 2 1/2″ with a 3 mm wall. Aluminum can reach a wall thickness of 4 mm, and copper can reach 1.5 mm. Square tubes can be bent up to 60 x 60 x 3 mm.
Minimum bending radius: 2 x pipe outside diameter.
