The pipe benders N. 78 to GM 600 at a glance
These pipe benders bend steel gas pipes by pressing: a hand-operated hydraulic cylinder drives the bending form forward, while the pipe is held by two side pins between an upper sliding plate and a graduated lower plate. The pump works with differential pistons. Its return stroke is also hydraulic and, according to the manufacturer, runs about seven times faster than the working stroke, so the operator can follow each bend closely and reset the machine quickly.
The seven models differ in the largest pipe size they bend, from 1″1/2 for the N. 78 to 6″ for the GM 600. Each machine comes with its bending forms for gas pipes. For the sizes 3″1/2 to 6″, the GM 400, GM 500 and GM 600 use pressure pads instead of forms.
